How to set up your first website

If you want to have a website for your business then you need to understand the steps you need to take in order to get it up and running. The first thing to do once you have your company name is to buy your domain name. This is the web address that your website will sit on and it can also be used for email purposes. In the UK the two most common sorts are .co.uk and .com which cost less than £20 per year each.

Once you have your domain names you will need to decide where you are going to host your site. If you have a programmer who is building the site for you then they may offer to host the site, if not you may want to buy hosting space through a third party. Once you have pointed your domain over to your server you can start the process of building your site. You may decide to use an off the shelf content management system such as WordPress or you may use one that has been built by a programmer. Ideally you want to have some visuals done to show you what it will look like before you go into programming as changes at this point are easier than once already built.
