Organic vs paid for marketing

When looking to advertise your website you have a wide range of options available. The majority of the search engines offer something called pay per click listings as well as organic listings. If you participate in Google Adwords for example, then you will be able to pay to have your advert with a link to your site in a prime location on the search results pages. Often you pay an amount each time your ad is clicked and there are a number of factors that decide where in the paid for listings you ad is shown.

Organic listings are ordered by the search engine’s algorithm. They have set criteria that automatically lists websites based on the search the user has carried out. To improve your organic listings you may need to carry out some SEO (search engine optimisation) techniques on your site to improve the rankings of it so it appears higher.
